Junior 4 consists of six students aged from 6 to 7 years. The
students in this group have a range of disabilities including
Intellectual Impairment, Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Hearing
Impairment. The students in J4 participate in a wide range of
programs that facilitate learning and development, particularly in the
areas of communication (PECS), early literacy/numeracy, social
development and personal skills. The students have access to
specialist staff that assist in developing and/or implementing programs
such as speech therapy, music therapy and physiotherapy.
During Term 1, the students in J4 learnt about the different sorts of
transport items and during tern 2 we're learning about nursery rhymes.
The students in J4 participate in 4 community access programs each week
(Story Telling, Calamvale Community College, Swimming and Shopping).
These programs are extremely valuable and aim to teach the students how
to generalize their 'classroom' skills across a range of learning
environments. Junior Four is an energetic, fun and rewarding
group.
