Physical Education at Calamvale
State Special School
INTERSCHOOL SPORT
Well Done”, and “Good Try”, are just some of the
phrases we hear when students represent Calamvale at various interschool
sports carnivals. Indoor cricket, swimming, indoor soccer, athletics
and lawn bowls are carnivals that Calamvale compete in. Every student
that represents Calamvale at a sporting event has an understanding of
the value of team skills and is very rarely seen displaying signs of bad
sportsmanship. They are quick to compliment their team mates when they
achieve something as well as vocalise encouragement. They also display
sportsmanship towards other schools through positive encouragement,
cheering and shaking their hands at the end of the match. Well-done
students.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION
With
an emphasis on students becoming physically active, junior, intermediate
and senior students have participated in Physical Education lessons.
Students learn skills such as throwing; catching, kicking, and then they
apply their newly learnt skills into a modified game. Not only do they
work on improving their skills, they are also improving their fitness
levels. Sports and activities that students have done include swimming,
basketball, hockey, touch football, soccer and bike riding. The sports
and skills that all of the students are learning and consolidating in,
in Physical education will allow them to be active for future years.
